Simone Rocha looks back on 10 years of creation celebrating women
You have consistently placed women at the heart of everything you have done. Why is this so important to you? I am inspired by many different women and I see femininity and resilience in them. Whether it is with members of my team, clients, or artists such as Louise Bourgeois, Roni Horn or Pina Bausch, I am drawn to the work of these creative women.
Where does your love of femininity come from and when did you start subverting it in your work? I've always been intrigued by the traditional conception of the feminine, by this way of thinking of it as a somewhat uniform notion. When people think of female DNA, they immediately think of pink, red, and little hearts. I also think of blood, and of the heart that pumps blood. I'm always looking for contrast, I want there to be some tension or friction.

Another theme that is dear to you: nature. Can you tell us why?
The choice of models for your shows is extremely inclusive. Why is it important for you to represent all types of women? I think it's important to show who is wearing the clothes. Over the years, I have managed to scroll through extraordinary personalities, such as Chloë Sevigny and Lily Cole, or more recently singer Celeste and prima ballerina Francesca Hayward. I also like to scroll models like Mika Schneider or Kiki Willems, who are as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside. Casting is never about specific age or beauty, it's always a real mix.
