Selection of ideal dresses to camouflage a small belly
One day, in the twilight of our adolescence, it settled down, by dint of drunken evenings, junk food, yoyo diets, laziness from dragging oneself to the gym or post-breakup binge eating. The little belly concerns us all. Or almost. So much so that the wearing of the grandmother-style slimming girdle and the corset made a comeback a few seasons ago and are even assumed by celebrities. Not very sexy and restrictive but effective. Refractory to the diktats of thinness and suffering to feel better about yourself? Here are ten commandments to camouflage and assume more easily the one that some affectionately call "bidou", "brioche" or even "buoy" and "belly", when for others it is simply "roll".
1) Lycra, enemy number one
He and clothes with a high rate of elastane and stretch are to be banned. These materials accentuate the shape of the belly and by their folds, highlight the small rolls that seem unsightly to you. We prefer fluid materials or peplum tops and avoid synthetics which tend to stick to the skin.
2) Goodbye horizontal stripes
Optical effect obliges, we avoid sailor tops and wide stripes which flesh out the silhouette. Farewell also to imposing patterns which will tend to accentuate the small belly effect.
3) Exit shiny materials
This disco ball tank top would have had a jamming effect on the dancefloor. Unfortunately, sequin tops and shiny fabrics accentuate curves.
4) In wide tops there is "wide"
Do you want to make your belly disappear behind thick tent-like tops? Bad idea, you will get the opposite of the expected effect. To fleece sweatshirts and shapeless cotton T-shirts, we prefer a vaporous blouse in an airy material.
5) Pantex or not Pantex?
Shaping panties and tights perfectly erase the contours of the silhouette. It's very simple everyone tears them off, from the very young Kylie Jenner to Kate Winslet. They allow you to lose up to one trouser size. In winter, tights are the most precious of allies, to slip under a skater skirt.

They will only bring more volume to the hips. We opt for those without pleats and with discreet pockets that will keep the illusion of slimness intact.
7) Play to your strengths
Slender legs, wasp waist or nice chest... Yes, look carefully, you have some assets. So we accentuate them shamelessly. Neckline, length of skirt above the knee... We subtly reveal everything that can divert the gaze from the little belly that we discreetly hide under a pretty cashmere sweater.
8) Longer the jacket
Short perfecto-type jackets and cropped blazers do not go well with small rolls, because they also add volume. Indeed the buttons and zips of the rock jackets thicken the silhouette. Regarding suit jackets, we prefer to wear them open and mid-buttocks to hide what we want.
9) The dresses we love
Trapeze, tunic, babydoll, empire, wrap, straight or peplum... All these shapes will easily blur this embarrassing belly, marking the chest without molding the rest. They are chosen in soft materials, heavy fabrics accentuating the curves. And for the belt, we choose it thin and discreet.
10) Know how to choose colors
To create an optical effect and draw the eye to the lower body, dark shades are preferred for the tops. Black, grey, khaki or brighter colors such as marsala, taupe or even navy, combined with light-colored pants or skirts.
