For twenty years, Le Perruquier has been selling hair prostheses, hairpieces and other turbans in Dijon. The shop is open to everyone, but mostly sick people go there, because losing your hair can be a real blow to morale and a new hairstyle can change everything.

"It's complicated to walk down the street without hair, especially if it's not a voluntary choice", explains the manager. So she helps women, but also men, by offering them wigs of all kinds: blonde, red, red, blue, smooth, curly, short or long...

Like the wigs in the store, Isabelle Bidault's clientele is varied, but it is mostly women who come to see her. In terms of age, the gap is wide: "My youngest client is six years old, the oldest 101 years old." And for seven years, she has noticed that the number of sick clients has increased.

Wigs are expensive: prices vary between 350 euros and 1500 euros in his shop. The price difference is explained according to the materials used and the making of the hairpiece.

Wigs are either made of synthetic fibers, natural hair, or a mixture of the two. Then they are made either mechanically, by hand (each hair is tied to a cotton base), or by hand and machine. Le Perruquier is supplied in Germany and Franche-Comté to have quality products.

Fortunately, wigs are reimbursed if they have been prescribed. Social Security fully pays for wigs costing 350 euros and partially reimburses those up to 750 euros, with mutuals taking care of the rest.

A complete offer

Isabelle Bidault has decided to expand the range of products she sells. In addition to special cosmetics for sensitive skin, it offers clothes suitable for chemotherapy sessions because they open where the infusions are put. She also calls on a hairdresser every Thursday afternoon. "The shop is privatized for each haircut, so that women are not ashamed to go to the hairdresser and show themselves with their hair damaged by treatments." Pink October is therefore every day in his store.
