Clothes, food, smartphones… Are we consuming too much?
It's hard not to be tempted by the latest fashionable Adidas sneakers, even if you already have sneakers in good condition. Sales, advertisements, new version of the same product… companies push us to consume all the time. And sometimes more than necessary! But it has a strong impact on the planet.
In the fashion sector, the phenomenon of fast fashion encourages people to buy the latest trendy clothes. Each season, a new collection comes out and sales are scheduled. Result ? We always want to buy. But fashion is the 2th most polluting industry in the world, behind oil. It is responsible each year for 10% of global CO2 emissions. It is enormous !
We also produce a lot of food that ends up in the trash. And on the digital side, it's not better: we are surrounded by connected objects that constantly consume energy: smartphones, computers, watches, etc. And 88% of French people change their cell phone while it is still working. In many countries of the world, we consume beyond what is reasonable, and this has a heavy impact on the planet.

And you, what do you think of our way of consuming? Do you have the impression that we are in excess or that it is hard to escape?
Tell us what you think. Your testimony may be published in an upcoming GEO Ado on climate change.
