The questions to ask yourself to choose your parquet floor
Flooring
Natural and authentic, parquet brings a lot of charm to a room. Have you decided to put it in your home? Here are a few things to think about and questions to ask yourself to be sure you're making the right choice and choosing the flooring that's right for you.
Do I want "real" parquet?
This question may seem strange, but there is indeed a distinction between solid and engineered parquet on the one hand, and laminate on the other. According to the French Union of Parquet Manufacturers and Contractors (UFFEP), the term "parquet" applies to "any wood or wood-based floor covering whose wear layer (i.e. the upper layer of the blade, made of wood) is at least 2.5 mm thick". This very precise definition excludes from the category of parquet floors laminate coverings whose upper layer is not made of wood but imitates this material.
