Take advantage of washable diapers without having to wash them, that's the idea of My little layer
As parents, disposable diapers are very convenient. However, they represent an undeniable source of waste and their composition often remains obscure. Problem, conventional diapers often contain toxic substances (endocrine disruptors, petrochemical derivatives, traces of pesticides), while they are in direct contact with baby's skin. Many parents are therefore looking for alternatives and are interested in washable diapers, not without adventures.
The washable diaper, a healthy and ecological alternative
Far from the nappies of our grandmothers, these panties are made of ecological and waterproof fabric with an absorbent part inside, disposable or washable. More economical and preferable for baby's health, cloth nappies have the advantage of not generating any (or almost no) waste and causing no irritation. But let's face it, between the apprehension of putting them on properly and the idea of having to clean them, more than one parent remains skeptical about the convenience of cloth diapers.
Based on this observation and after having experimented with washable diapers without real success, Antoine de Chambost and Philippe Gaillard decided to create the service of My little layer with the aim of offering parents - lacking time or a little put off idea of washing diapers - a no-brainer alternative.
The purpose of the Ma petite couche service is therefore to support each parent during their transition.

In addition to being expensive and toxic, disposable diapers are far from being environmentally friendly. Between 0 and 3 years old, a child consumes between 2 and 8 diapers every day depending on his age. Which makes more than 5000 diapers per child. Cloth nappies are therefore a good alternative, but you still have to be ready to devote a little of your time to washing and drying them.
My little diaper takes care of everything
My little diaper therefore offers to deliver the clean diapers to us and then collect them once used to clean them for us. Twice a week, a delivery man comes by bike to exchange dirty nappies for clean ones. At the first delivery, it is the founders, Philippe or Antoine, who visit us to answer all our questions.
Don't worry, the installation of the washable diaper is the same as the disposable one. Once the layer is removed, simply remove the protective veil and throw it in the trash. A waterproof bag is provided by the company to place the diapers used while waiting for the delivery person to pass. For the time being, delivery is confined to the cities of Issy-les-Moulineaux, Vanves, Boulogne-Billancourt and Paris XV.
Before launching My little layer, the two founders offered six families to test the service. All wanted to continue despite a higher price than conventional diapers. While a disposable diaper costs between 0.20 ct and 0.40 ct euros per unit, the price of the washable diaper from My little layer is set at 0.50 ct euros per unit, at which you must add the price of delivery (i.e. €3/week for one visit and €6 for two). As for the classic washable diapers, it is necessary to count between 20 and 40€ per diaper. An investment of €600 for 20 nappies is therefore to be expected, to which must be added the cost of washing, i.e. around €200. The savings are therefore made in the long term and more significantly for the following children. As with our English neighbours, Ma petite couche allows us to benefit from the advantages of washable diapers without the constraints: with an ecological and organized cleaning service, as well as home pick-up. Ideal for conscientious but busy parents.
