Limoges: despite the crisis and the increase in beneficiaries, SOS Bébé 87 can count on donors
Anais has a little baby, Hayden, just one year old. For the first time, this painter in the building pushed the door of the association SOS baby 87. "It's reassuring to have this type of structure. If you lose your footing, they are good advice and you can press on them."
At the moment, the contracts are no longer chained as before for this professional: "December was difficult. I don't know how the next few months will unfold. I can have a fortnight's worth of food for the price of two times cheaper than in supermarkets.
New families in need with the crisis
Sandrine, a volunteer for three years with SOS Bébé 87, also observes: "Since prices have increased in supermarkets, many families have come supply yourself in small pots or layers here." For Serge Pérucaud, it is a reality. "The precariousness is more important today. We have gone from 900-950 families before the Covid to almost 1050-1100."
There are new families and therefore more needs. The association buys 80% of the products subsequently resold. "A lot of people have been making physical donations of clothes in recent months," notes Sandrine. "It's fashionable to recycle and it benefits other families."
Financial donations have also been pouring in in recent weeks. “Amazingly, we observe an increase in solidarity,” smiles Serge Pérucaud. "We received some nice donations during the end-of-year celebrations. It's quite exceptional, it warms the heart and it shows that donors have confidence in our association." Despite the crisis, the association is coping, which bodes well for the continuation of this SOS Baby association created in 2005.
