This attic bedroom had a simple wooden floor that had been painted white. If the aesthetic rendering was satisfactory, the noise permeability was uncomfortable, both in the room itself (rented via Airbnb) and in the room below (the owners' living room). It is impossible to listen to music or make a phone call without making the hosts " enjoy " it. It was therefore decided to install sound insulation topped with real parquet. For the insulation, Quick-Step Transitsound was chosen. This acoustic underlay has been specially designed to reduce transmission noise. It offers an acoustic improvement of impact noise of 20 dB.
It also serves as a stable base for the parquet and levels the irregularities of the support. Finally, although this is not taken into account here, it provides protection against rising damp and is suitable for heated floors thanks to its three-layer structure. Regarding the parquet, the choice fell on the Massimo model in winter oak color (Quick-Step), in ceruse oak with wide strips (26 cm) with extra matt varnished finish. The patented Uniclic Multifit system, with tongue and groove, allows the floor boards to be laid in a single "click" and without glue. The room being almost square, there was no particular difficulty, except for the cutting to be made to precisely follow the shape of the stone wall. A threshold bar to match the parquet floor was then fitted, as well as covering plinths, the original plinths cannot be removed without damaging the paint.
