Three pregnant women affected by the COVVI-19 were hospitalized this week in resuscitation, at the Lille CHU.This Thursday, there are one left, the other two are still in the hospital.None of the three was vaccinated. The message of doctors is clear: vaccination is the only protection.

In Lille, three pregnant women were hospitalized in resuscitation at the CHU this week. They developed serious forms of COVID-19, none of the three was vaccinated. This Thursday, there is one in intensive care, the other two are still hospitalized.

Many women are reluctant to this vaccination, they fear side effects for their baby, or false layers in the first quarter. But the doctors of the Lille University Hospital repeat it: on the contrary, it is the COVVI-19 which is dangerous, for the mother and for the child. The High Authority for Health (HAS) recommends vaccination from the first trimester of pregnancy.

Risk factor

According to Louise Ghesquière, obstetrician doctor at the Jeanne de Flandre maternity hospital, being pregnant is a risk factor in itself: "It is a more fragile terrain, one can develop a more severe form at the pulmonary level, which requires hospitalization in resuscitation foroxygen ".

Prematurity

Covid-19 : trois femmes enceintes non vaccinées sont passées par la réanimation du CHU de Lille cette semaine

And then there can also be consequences on the pregnancy itself: "it can give fever, which leads to contractions. If the baby does not tolerate them well, or if the mother presents a severe table, we may have to interrupt the pregnancy, induce prematurity. These babies must then be hospitalized in intensive care ".

Antibodies for the baby?

For Doctor Ghesquière, the only solution to avoid these severe forms is vaccination "from the first trimester of pregnancy. It protects mom and baby. The baby can probably benefit from antibodies against the COVVI.He also benefits after birth: having a vaccinated mother and entourage protects him from contamination ".

No "rose" of false layers

Regarding fears of false layers in the first trimester, the obstetrician refers to recent studies "They did not show a ride of false layers with vaccination in the first trimester of pregnancy pregnancy. There is no risk demonstrated, there are only benefits. For mom, baby, and society ".
